You may type in
a scale to zoom directly to a scale.
In Internet
Explorer, you can resize your window and the map will resize to fit. If you
change the proportions of the window just hit the refresh button to generate a
new map. The size of the map image determines how long it takes to download.
Since the size of the image is determined by the size of your browser window,
you can make your browser window smaller in order to get quicker map downloads.
Please find the balance between map size and download time that suits you.
Making a layer active and turning layers on and off
For many tools, you need to set the 'Active
Layer'. Simply pick the radio button beside the layer you want to make
active.
For example, if
you want information on Parcels, select the radio button beside 'Parcels' from
the layer window.
To turn a layer
on/off check the box beside the layer name.
Note: Not all layers are visible at differing scales.
Search Tips
There are 2 kinds of searches that can be performed by this system, Geocoded Centerline search and standard SQL searches. All you need to do is follow a few simple steps to complete the search.
Step
1: Click on 'Search Menu'

Step 2: Choose a Search Definition. You can select from 'Address Search on Centerlines' and type in a physical address or 'Search Parcels' to search multiple fields of data.
Step 3: Complete the search form. Fill out one or more fields that you would like to search on. Any
fields left blank will not be considered in the search. Each field you do
choose to search on will give you a more restrictive search. For example, if
you fill out a Last Name of 'Smith' and a First Name of 'John', then you will
only get all of the 'John Smith's', not all of the 'John's' and all of the
'Smith's'.
Step
4: Press
Click to perform search. This
final step sends your request to our server which will then return the results
to you in the “Results” window.
Once you receive your results you can simply browse
the data that is given. The information is returned in groups of 10. You can
navigate through the results using the ![]()
![]()
![]()
buttons.
Finally you can click on the
in order to
zoom in to the feature on the GIS map, or you can click on the
in order to
see all of the fields in the database. If your search does not produce any
results, you will get the message "No Results Found". If this is the
case, you may want to try a less specific search. If you get too many results,
you may want to go back and try making your search more specific.
Other Information:
When doing
searches on a text field, you will have only one box to type in. The “*“
is a special character that you can use to represent any number of characters
in your search. The “?” is a special character that represents any one
character.
When doing searches on a numeric field, you will have the choice of using 'equals to', 'less than', 'greater than', or 'is between'. Make your selection from the drop-down list and then fill out the left box for all of the searches, and the right box if you choose 'is between'.
